• Next comes the Reciprocal links. These sites are the ones which offer you a link back if put their banner (or such sort) in your site. These banners or badges are usually asked to be put in the footer of your site or in the sidebar. Now, remember these link exchanges may also happen as textual links. The major setback of these types of directory submission is that you are literally telling the world that you are getting a link in exchange of something.

• The most exclusive directory submission that you can perform for your site is the Paid ones. You pay from $1 to upto $50 or maybe more to get a link back from their site. Are they worth the money? You may ask. I would say yes, definitely. These sites not only get you a good link. But they also expose your content as per your specific needs. These types of directory submission have also the tenedency to earn links for your site.

• There are plenty of other types too. You might have heard of do-follow, no-follow, automated and other what not’s. But they are all on the sub-category of the above three. Most of the sites just provide no-follow links and they are just good for exposure. The ones that do provide do-follow links are extremely rare and falls under the premium (paid) directory’s category. Although there are some directories which do provide a do-follow link for free. But I wouldn’t recommend them. Since, these sites are free to submit, so their link often provide no real value. And the last one which is automatic directory submission. I don’t recommend it strongly. Because even though now Google almost ignores any kind of irrelevant or spammy links. Still, this type of automated services can get you into trouble real quick.
