Simple that. If you are getting a result with your current title and description then don't even think to disturb them otherwise ranking will drop.

If your current title is not bringing any useful traffic to your website, and your website is not ranking well in the search results, then it is a good idea to try a different title, and see where the position comes, changing title effects SEO often.
