These kind of big website that has millions of pages must need canonical tags to shorten the work load in SEO.

Larger websites with millions of Web Pages mean lots of content but content should be useful and unique.
Remove thin pages content or add useful content to those pages to make it more relevant for user information.
Remove duplicate pages- remove all the pages that are creating duplicate pages.

Remove duplicate pages- remove all the pages that are creating duplicate pages. Duplicate pages are not preferred by search engines and can rank you down from search positions. If needed to repeat pages with the same information always use the canonical tag.
