For instance, let's say your blog is about recipes or cooking, then ideally you should find other blogs with similar content and make comments there. This is not really for 'SEO' or backlinking but making connections, finding blog allies and gaining real readers from to your own blog. The people who regularly read that blog you are commenting on, will likely click through and read your blog. Some will become regular blog subscribers if they like what you have to say.
