Everybody keep saying this that if you build good and unique content then links will just flow to you. Is this really true?

Maybe its true. But from what I have seen that links doesn't really flow to you in the today's world. You have to build links at some point.

Its a saying that you will get them which is true but the theory is in the perfect world. In real world its almost impossible.

May be Sometimes it may be possible but in real world it is tough that the links won't flow because of the content at some point you have to build the links.
Does Links really flow for good content?
