In order to attract advertisers to your website you have to be pretty big in terms of traffic. The more traffic you will get the more advertisers will come.

We are getting about 5k unique visits per day right now.

Its good but not that good to attract advertisers. Have considered services like adclerks or buysellads? They can earn you pretty good with this traffic.

Always use unique quality content.
