Managed vs UnManaged VPS / Dedicated Server
#1
What exactly should you people recommend to go with?

Say one person have much knowledge about Linux and stuff, such as me.

But when it comes to hosting people say that it is totally different ball game.

If I know linux and know to install, configure and update. Then is there a lot of thing to learn? Even for me.

Because it is a different ball game.

If you are not accustomed and experienced linux admin, no one in a decent mind will recommend you to go buy an unmanaged VPS/ dedicated server.

No, there is no much to learn that part you get that right. But there is much more to experience. Many problems can happen while running a server. And those needs to addressed right away within minutes. Because with each minute that you delay your site remains down. Which means loss in revenue.

I know how to operate linux systems. So, Basically because as I have no experience so I have to spend a lot of money in managed host.

@lazylord Get a cloud droplet from Digital Ocean or such. It will only cost you $5 or so. Manage it for a month or two. If you can handle it then move your live site to it.

Managed VPS and dedicated servers refer to two different types of hosting services, each with its own level of management and control. Here's a breakdown of the differences between managed and unmanaged options:

Managed VPS: In a managed VPS (Virtual Private Server) setup, the hosting provider takes care of most administrative tasks related to the server. This includes server setup, software installation, security updates, performance optimization, and regular backups. The provider typically offers a control panel or user interface for easier management of the server. Managed VPS hosting is a good option for those who want to focus on their website or application without worrying about server maintenance.

Unmanaged VPS: In an unmanaged VPS setup, the hosting provider only provides the basic infrastructure and network connectivity. You are responsible for the server's configuration, software installation, security updates, and overall server management. This option gives you more control and flexibility, but it requires technical expertise to handle server administration tasks effectively. Unmanaged VPS hosting is suitable for users who have the necessary skills or a dedicated IT team to manage the server.

Managed Dedicated Server: Similar to managed VPS hosting, a managed dedicated server comes with comprehensive management and support from the hosting provider. The provider handles server setup, software installation, security, monitoring, backups, and overall server maintenance. With a managed dedicated server, you have a higher level of performance, reliability, and security compared to a VPS since you have the entire physical server dedicated to your needs. This option is ideal for resource-intensive applications or websites with high traffic that require maximum control and support.

Unmanaged Dedicated Server: In an unmanaged dedicated server setup, you have complete control over the server, including hardware and software configurations. You are responsible for all aspects of server management, from initial setup to ongoing maintenance, security, and software updates. Unmanaged dedicated servers are typically chosen by experienced users or organizations that have their own IT staff to handle server administration tasks.

The choice between managed and unmanaged hosting depends on your technical expertise, resources, and specific requirements. Managed hosting offers convenience, support, and peace of mind, while unmanaged hosting provides greater control and customization options but requires more technical proficiency.

Unmanaged- We fully support the server hardware including hard drives, CPUs, and memory. This is the most flexible option for advanced users. Managed- This is the most popular VPS option. With a managed server we fully manage and support the server infrastructure so you can focus on your website.
