For me its undoubtedly personalized emails.

Personalized emails can convert well. But I don't send any product updates in them because I think that personalized emails are just for interaction with the subscribers. To loyalty margin in their eyes.

Weekly newsletter are a good option. If personalized emails contain links product then you might loose the trust of your subscribers.
