How much money do you guys generally invest in a site which is brand new? share some thoughts.

Frankly speaking I don't invest money in a site which brand new. I first assess the potential of the site for a few months and then make the decision. There is no limit for investing money. If I see that my ROI is gonna be pretty good then I can go to couple of thousand dollars also.

I go about $100 for the first time. And then invest more if I see its working well.

I think that a little amount of money is to be invested first just to investigate that what your site's true potential is and how much ROI you are going to make. The first investment should be only for tests and keeping tracks, wishing of getting return from your first investment is not wise. I will say that going with $100-$500 is good depending upon the niche.
