Both are very good to earn from home. But you will have to decide which one is good for you. If you are looking for ads those are targeted for your site's audience then adsense is not your option as in case of adsense you will have zero power to control the ads. And moreover adsense accounts often gets banned in that case you will loose all your money.

Affiliate Marketing programs are hard for beginners. You will need experience and professional work to get sales and earn through commission. If you site's daily visit rate under 5000 uv then I will suggest don't go for affiliate programs.
