One of our main site's sister site is hosted there, they are maintained by a friend of mine. They are one of the best when it comes to performance and support, will not find any complaints about them there. Option wise also truly great. Because there aren't many hosting services out there who do provide these much options about their plans with not to mention hardware specifics. A lot of people do appreciate the transparency.
Although things are great with them. I have seen them under perform in times of stress specially the sites who need variable hardware requirements from time to time. What I am saying is that if you know your user or client base. And have a general idea about how much or how many resources you will need in order to handle the traffic then you should be fine. But if your idea is limited and/or your traffic fluctuates without any heads up then R9Host can be difficult to operate with. Scalability is a real issue with them. It can also cause downtime.
Many will also say that their customization's are a bit limited in terms of technicality of operating a business setup. But I don't mind as long as they run fine. It's fine by me. After all they are providing Managed services.
