Instagram is not known for making money its just fro fun. If you really want to make money from it then you will have to generate leads from it. Try promoting affiliate products through the images (only which are relevant otherwise the clicks will just waste) you generate leads from then and eventually get some conversions.

I agree with you. There is no general way to make money from Instagram without any third party involvement. Generate leads for that traffic. When they comes to any image, the image must redirect them to any page that can catch those visits and turn them into sales or equivalent conversion terms.
