Android apps, generally, continue running in a sandboxed Java-like virtual machine, so should be made in Java or some tongue that masterminds to virtual machine bytecode that uses the Android Programming interface.

(Not specifically, No Android's C runtime library, bionic, is not parallel perfect with the GNU libs, which most Linux circulations use)
