Why spend money on SSL?

I don't understand why people spend so much money on SSL where there are so many free and good services that can provide them? Services like Comodo, Digicert takes about a week or so to successfully issue a certificate whereas services like letsencrypt or cloudflare takes only a minute or two and moreover they are free.

The main problem of free SSL is that you have to renew them once after every 3 months period. And many marketers who own many sites this can be a problem for them. So, they buy SSL's. Its simple for them that way. They once issue one they can relax for one year or so.

Clearly you are misinformed. SSL certificates doesn't make websites secure they just encrypt your information. So, that no external entity can view your details while interacting between your computer and the server.

And what benefits are you talking about? There are no benefits apart from the fact that they don't need an update (reinstall actually) once after 3 months.

Free SSL also does that job. Then why the need of investing money in it? You forget to answer the actual question of OP.

Most of people don't know Free SSL available. Because all people buy domains from Godaddy, Nameheap etc. These companies not showing any FREE SSL they sell paid SSL.

That I don't think is true many famous EIG companies such as Hostgator or Bigrock, just tell their clients that they will be provided with free SSL's via lets encrypt.

It is definitely worth it spending the extra money on an Extended Validation (Green Bar) SSL Certificate. There are many advantages of getting an EV SSL Certificate. Here are some of them:

1. Any SSL Certificate will make your website look good in your customer’s eyes. Your website and business will be more trustworthy with an SSL Certificate than without one.
