I have been going through the skyscraper technique lately a lot. And also wanted to implement it for myself. Finally got some luck.
There is a almost 20 years old domain in my niche. Which have some invalid links in it's pages?
Now if I get those links then will they help?

If you are studying it correctly. Then you know that finding these type of pages are just half of the work. The main load of work comes to contacting the owner of the site and get a deal.
The thing about link juice is that if the page holds value and your link after being placed looks natural. Along with it if your page provides and add value to the original page then yes sure they will help you rank better.

If those pages are valid and workable (pages which adds value to a site content) then yes you should try.

Acquiring links from aged domains can provide value, especially if they are relevant to your niche and have a history of authority. However, the effectiveness of these links depends on their quality and relevance to your content, as well as the overall health of the linking domain. Conduct thorough research and ensure the links are valid and from reputable sources to maximize their impact on your website's SEO.

There is no matter about old domain, just look at the site quality and content.

Yes, aged domains can help, but age alone isn’t the main factor. What matters more is whether the page is still indexed, relevant to your niche, and has real traffic or authority.
If the links are from broken or low-quality pages, the impact is usually minimal. Relevance + quality beats domain age every time.

I ran into the same problem and what helped me was treating AI answers like a new search channel instead of tweaking old-school SEO tricks. Using
AI Search Optimization made a difference for me because it focused on fixing how my site was interpreted by models and boosted how often my pages were actually cited in AI answers. It felt way more practical than just pumping out more content.

Getting a link from a 10-20 year-old site in your exact niche is a huge win for broken link building.
Yes, it will definitely help, but just check a couple of things first:
- Make sure the site is still indexed by Google and hasn't been spammed with low-quality links over the years.
- Make sure your content is a perfect match to replace that broken link.
If the site looks healthy, definitely reach out to the owner. You're helping them fix a broken link on their page, so it's a win-win. Good luck with the outreach!

Yes, absolutely. If those backlinks come from real, relevant websites and the linking pages are still indexed by Google, they can still provide SEO value even if the original target page is broken.
The age of the domain is not as important as the quality and relevance of the linking pages. A 20-year-old website often has strong authority, so reclaiming its broken backlinks can be very effective.
Before going after them, make sure:
- The linking pages are still live and indexed.
- The sites linking are relevant to your niche.
- The links are dofollow.
- The pages have not been spammed or devalued.
This is a classic broken link building opportunity. It works well when you create content that matches the intent of the old page and genuinely helps the site owner replace the dead link with your resource.
