Affiliate to get new members

I want to try out an affiliate service in my forum to get new members. So that members can refer other people. Is this a good idea? And any does forum scripts allow this?

This is not new people often do this to grow a newly founded. And many paid forum script's also provide this feature such as vbulletin, Xenforo etc.

This is a common practice most of the forum scripts either free or paid gives this facility. And also if it is not present then you can apply a mod or plugin that enables it.
