Wireless Access Points
#1
An access point AP connects wireless clients (or network devices) to the wired LAN. Client devices on a network do not typically communicate directly with each other; they communicate via an access point. In essence, an access point converts the data packets from the 802.11 frame encapsulation format in the air to the 802.3 Ethernet frame format on the wired Ethernet network.
