If you have already achieved the first position then 'Congrats'.
And now to keep it up. You should regularly check your competitors content and also backlinks.
See what type of content they are updating and what kind of backlinks they are adding to their link profile.
If you find any content that can outrank you and/or any backlink that has been acquired by your any competitor that outvalue your links then try fill the gap whether its through content or through links.
The hard thing is not attain good rank in the SERP's but to keep it up that way.

Yeah and we can be ahead of them by doing various off page activities daily. it will help us for sure to maintain good position.

And if action needed then to take steps accordingly.

I agree. People can't build links regularly. That's quite impossible and also suspicious looking.

Keyword position can be maintained by using various off page techniques on a regular. If you stop building backlinks then your competitors will rank higher moving your down in the SERPs.
