Well sometimes it can be 1000 and sometime it can be just 10. It totally depends on the client at hand.

Generally atleast 5-10 keywords per page so if you 5 pages means you should focus on 25-50 Aprox keywords. Again it is not compulsory its depend upon business and its competitors.

We can target as many keywords as we want and also it depends upon the client. But do not target too many keywords per page as that will confuse search engines.

I think In reality, you can target as many keywords as you want hundreds, thousands, the sky is the limit.
The most important point is what you are targeting on a per page level. I encourage clients to consider "tightly related" groups of keywords to target on each page.
