Sudden Drop in Indexed URLs - sekhar540 - 12-07-2017
Hi Everyone,
I am working on https://jobs.lallabi.com and https://realestate.lallabi.com, I have submitted 35 lakh and 15K URLs to google respectively through sitemaps. One month back I found that Google was indexed 4lakh and 10K URLs respectively. After that I have done some changes in Content and used Popup. Within 20 days the indexed URLs gone back to 16K and 1.8K respectively.
I have questioned in webmaster forums, one of the employees from google given reply with few corrections on canonical tag and on popup issue, I have done all and resubmitted sitemaps on 4th December. But still it is going back and there is no improvement. I am unable to find the proper reason behind this. Can anyone help me to solve this issue and to index all those URLs again.

Well it may happen some time. See google indexes and evaluates your pages. You have submitted a chunk load of urls so maybe google has indexed them at once. But now when google has finally evaluate your page it didn't seemed worthy to them.

For how much time they were indexed exactly?

Some times it usually happens ..focus on the content and try to resolve the crawl errors if any
it should be back in form again soon

I agree sometimes it happens anyway. It comes around after some time.
