Representing Content Categorically - supaul - 07-13-2016

My main page has all the contents. But also had created sub-categories of the root domain and placed each item in them. The problem is that the main page and sub-pages has content some of bit the same. Is that count as duplicate content? How does it effect my rankings?

Well that depends totally on the content on the sub-pages, how much unique content you added in them in terms of your homepage additionally.

If you have enough content on the sub-pages then it will work good. depending on the type of site google treats each site differently. So,you don't need to worry about that just make your content relevant.

It would be better if the important pages will have unique content while the other general pages contain duplicate content then use canonical tags for the search engine.
