H1 tag is maindatory for your website ranking. Because, according to the Google search engine H1 tags should be present in the content of your site.

The page actually have an infograph in it and I cannot put anything else along with it. It will clearly create friction with the alt texts.

Then just leave it as it is. If you're unable to add any H1 tag on the page. you can leave it as it is.

H1 tags greatly contribute to the visibility of sites. This is what Google users often see first among the search results. That is the reason why they always contain keywords. H1 tag missing issue means that such a vital element is not present in the body of the site

Heading goes for text but I have noticed many sites assign heading value to images also.
