Is it really necessary to disavow links from spammy social bookmarking sites? After the last update I was told that I should disavow any spammy links that is coming to my site. What do you guys say?
Social bookmarking sites itself doesn't help or impact your site negatively.

So, I won't be suggesting you to use the disavow tool for that. And coming to low quality or spammy links. Google will probably ignore them anyway.

But however if the links are coming from malicious sites that is a completely different thing.

According to google, spammy links will not affect your website in negative nor positive but it will just be ignored by the search engine. So creating new quality links will do better for your site.
If it isn't already clear, disavowing backlinks isn't something you do on a whim. It is a fairly serious action that can significantly impact your search ranking, for better or for worse. In general, you should only disavow a link that you know for sure is bringing you down.
If you really think those links are affecting your site's performance, you should disavow them!
For the search engine, a simple rule is that if a backlink is not in your niche, it should be ignored due to not acquiring relevancy. But again, spammy links can harm your website and it is advisable to put them in the Google Disavow tool.
Many publishers believe they must identify low-quality “spammy” links and disavow them. They believe that failure to do so can cause a site to lose rankings. But Google never recommends this practice. Google says it is not necessary.
Yes, that's a very crucial part of SEO as spammy websites can harm your overall SEO rankings and authority. So, it's always a good practise to make a list of your spammy links and disavow all of them. Hope it helps. Cheers!
