Instant messaging services are on the rise that's true but SMS marketing has also not gone extinct. So, my advice is that you invest most of your budget to IM's but atleast use a small part of that in SMS marketing too.

Since the rise of instant messaging services SMS marketing may have gone a bit back foot. But still it is the only way to directly communicate with the new clients. Ask yourself how many messages do you get sms's from different companies and how many in your IM's.

As much as possible yes, because every medium is important in every aspect of marketing programs just like in SMS, a way of reaching the target audience.
