I am just a little bit confused right now. I am starting a new forum soon but I am puzzled about the ranking arrangements for my members. Should I give them ranks as per the post counts or should I rank them as per the appreciations from the other members say 'thanks', which one is better??

Both are fine. You can use them according to your benefits or needs of your forum. You can use both of them at once. It your choice.

I think giving members ranks according to the likes received are better. it increases the trustworthiness of your forum.
