Most of the web admins are unhappy with this update. Crappy sites are ranking well and good sites are getting their a** kicked without any reason.
I don't blame the OP to think that this is link related. Hell, even I was thinking the same a few hours ago.

I was wondering previously that Google doesn't announce these type of algo updates. Then what did change this time?
Now I know for sure. Because it was no little shake, it was an earthquake.
Two of my sites took huge hit. I don't know how long will it take them to recover.

Nope, its not over. Even though after then it will take several weeks to the dust to settle. This update is huge.
