I have came across this term many times previous year, semantic search of Google. What does it actually means??
Semantic Search is function that Google uses to understand a search users query.
Suppose, if you are looking for 'restaurants near London airport' then google will not preform the search in their directory by these four words (restaurants, near, london & airport), rather Google will break down the phrase to its actual meaning which the search users is looking for. So, google will perform the action by showing you the results which means places to eat near london airport. This feature is included in Google by its hummingbird algorithm. The sole objective of this function is not to show results by the exact search terms but by learning the actual user's search query.
Semantic Search is a searching technique in which search engine systems does not target the referred keywords but they target the contextual meaning of it to determine the search results.
Semantic search seeks to improve search accuracy by understanding searcher intent and the contextual meaning of terms as they appear in the searchable data space, whether on the Web or within a closed system, to generate more relevant results.
