I don't understand the concept of it. Why a SEO Company will force a client to upgrade their php versions. I mean its irrelevant and not to mention has nothing to do with SEO.

We are currently using 5.6 and they are sending us emails to upgrade to 7.2
Although I haven't seen your emails. But I can tell you that if your SEO company is your hosting company then its absolutely normal. Using the latest version of any packages will bring more stability and make this more secure.

It may happen while upgrading that some of your site features may fail so they let you know first. Because its evident that you try those updates in your private server or same platform before going on full upgrades.
Many SEO firms suggest that you should use the updated version. Because they don't want your site failing in the rankings due to technicality it will not look good on them.

Yes, they both are the same.
5.6 is very outdated. We use 7.0 in some of our site but they are going to get updates once their support packages are updated within a month or so.
You know there is no hard and fast rule about it. Its your choice.
My opinion is that go ahead and change it to 7.2, unless you are having any technical difficulties.

But don't consider going to 7.3 now because many services and tools are still not compatible with this version of php.
