How to promote something in a closed group when you are not allowed to post any links?

In this case you have to very patient. Build trust first within the group. Then just pm them.

Building only trust isn't going to get the job done. Help them, interact with them in a personal way and don't just talk about work. Talk about hobbies and stuff. People will have to have faith in you.
