Exact matches will still have their effect don't worry. No matter how much google evolves.

Long tail keyword will have a vital role today and especially in the future because users query are mostly specific in which related to long tail queries.

We use Long Tail Keyword Because it is easy to rank a (Long Tail Keyword) e.g. "Online clothe stores in Lucknow". It is difficult to rank keyword "Shoes".
Firstly, we rank keyword "Online clothe stores in Lucknow" after that we rank "Shoes".

Its not about the advantages of long tail keyword. Its about whether or not they are going to effect the SERP's in the future.
