People always tell me that Facebook is great for building brand awareness. So, I thought that maybe buying FB likes will do the job. I will give updates and people will know about my site.

Why you wanna buy fb likes? They are not going to help you in any way. If you want to spend money then I suggest you invest in some real ways that can give some real ROI such as PPC.
