We will be using many customized application and widgets in our site. So, the developer of the apps are pressing us that we the manager of the site should use Drupal instead of Joomla.

Now from what I have heard that Drupal are very hard to manage and frankly I have no such work experience with Drupal. I have always preferred Joomla. In which I am comfortable working with any application. What should I do?
The fact is Drupal is very hard to manage for a newbie. Although there are plenty of differences between Drupal 7 & 8.

You can contact your app developer about this problem and discuss with them to resolve it. And here is a theory of mine. Exactly how much apps and customized widgets will be your site using?
If not many then you can easily install Drupal in a sub-directory of yours and let the widgets play from there.

Now, atlast it comes to the type of your site. I will personally suggest that go for Drupal if your site is big and has a enterprise like framework. Because Drupal is really hard for small sites with less framework.
If you are a website manager then probably you should learn Drupal too. See these things works on what works on them. The apps and widgets which you will be implementing in them if they work good with Drupal then why the developer will want to use them on Joomla? :o

In practical field nobody is 100% comfortable with anything. But if you have to survive then you have to make it work. So, my suggestion will be to you that step out of your comfort zone and learn Drupal.
I think that both are good in their own terms.

Drupal is good for big sites and Joomla is good for small ones.
