Are the Social Media Channels going to make forums extinct? Because a lot of members are spending a lot of time in social channels then in forums.
Hello no. It is never going to happen.

Forums existed a long time before social channels are born and they will exist in the future. See here is the difference people in social channels they are just passing the time gossiping and seeing each others posts. But the people in forums they are genuinely seeking information. Yeah, mass answering sites may take a part of forum traffic but still they are for every niche and everybody. And people in forums they like talking to each other.
Social Media channels are for entertainment purposes. And forums are like information hubs where you can get and share valuable knowledge. So, no social channels are never going to make forums extinct.
Social media channels are different from forum. Thre might be some group or page that requires interaction but forum is different. It is more on to sharing knowledge, social media has it but they are more onto entertainment side.
Social media channels are not making forums extinct because they specialized in different fields and they are not specifically competitors.
In my opinion they are not competitors. Forum users are professionals talking about any specific field. And social network users are randomly talkers. They can talk about whatever they want.
Forum and social channels are totally two different kind of sites. So, the answer is NO.
