How much traffic should one have before considering selling direct ads?

Well it totally depends on the niche you are in. And also the number of users that come and go in your niche. It maybe 1000-100k any number.

Well we are getting much enough. A our competitors get around 10-15k visitors per day and they are the big boys in the field.

We don't get that much but we get around 5-7k unique targeted visitors.
