Steps to Build a Successful Social Media Strategy
#1
1. Choose Social Goals

Figure out what you're looking to achieve.
Are you leaning towards getting your brand out there, attracting leads, or increasing your sales?

2. Do a Current Social Media Audit/Competitor Social Media Audit

- What’s working and what’s not?
- Who is engaging with your content?
- What platforms are your audience most active on?
- How does your social media presence compare to your competition?

3. Identify Your Target Audience

You need to know your target audience so you can create content they will like, comment on, and share with others.

4. Select the Right Social Platforms

Keep in mind that certain social platforms may be more effective than others for your business.

5. Develop a Content Strategy

- What type of content will you create?
- Will you post videos, images, or text-based content?
- What topics will you cover?

6. Monitor and Analyze Your Results

Use analytic tools to measure your performance against the goals, business objectives, and metrics you set earlier.

7. Reporting

Report weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly. Pull data directly from social platforms or tools like Later or Sprout Social.

8. Connect with Your Community

Dive into those comments and messages—respond, ask for feedback, and most importantly engage with your community’s content. Building a community is SO IMPORTANT for growth on social.

The first step to creating a winning social media strategy is to establish clear objectives and goals. Without goals, you have no way to measure success and return on investment (ROI). Each of your social media marketing goals should be SMART: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound.
