Does the Whatsapp groups still works to promote product??

I mean all I see what is going in whatsapp is fake news rotating. Unwanted products back and forth. People still trust the medium but only just to get short messages from people whom they know already. So, in this ground is it still safe to say that it can be used to promote products?

Actually it depends on what kind of groups or chat rooms are you in. Some closed groups still do pretty great but they are just handful so people mainly blame the whole medium for it.
