spliting up a site into two different sub-domains

Will it be wiser to split up a site into two different sub-domains? We parting our business, so they will need separate domains anyway.

Why don't you split up the site into two different sub-directories instead of two sub-domains!!! As, separate sub-domains considered as separate domains so if you split up the site into directories then you don't have to do all the SEO work from scratch.

I agree. Its a dumb idea to split a site into two sub-domains. In my opinion you you have to split then better split into two domains.
