In today's world content is the most important thing of any site. In this digital age audience have become much much more smarter then last few years. People wants something they just search for it via search engines, if you don't produce quality content and they don't get what they want it is more likely that they will never come back as because there are plenty of other options out there. And also your content has to be original in all means (not duplicated or copied) as due to the various search engine efforts over content based algorithm such as Google's Panda, you can end up caught by them and get red flagged or even band.
