Previously links from bookmarking sites had effected the SERP's but now they are not possible. They are now only good for outreach.

Reputable social bookmarking sites can affect due to its stored important and interesting information from the main site but not with low quality social bookmarking sites .

Bookmarking sites are really good for SEO nowadays. Because it is the most important part of Off page technique in SEO which will help to generate the back links. nowadays Google does not give more focus Page ranking. It is giving more importance on different off page techniques like social bookmarking, Web 2.0 and Forum Discussion.
