Is it really possible to get 50 to 60k visitors per month without building any links? A friend of mine told me about a hospital equipment blog which is getting this much traffic. Please share your views.

In this case it must be the niche. As it is a rare one. If the content is good and competition is low then it is possible.
But if it is not the factor then its all about Social Media. They must have done pretty well in SMO otherwise its not possible.

Great content can create this kind of miracle, in the case they don't need to build links. Things will just go viral and they will automatically gain links.

Per day 1.5 to 2K visitor its impossible dude. Yeah its possible if you are dealing with the huge amount people and they have to open your site for dealing or another thing is that you have a strong social media follower who actually interested in your shared links.

Stumbleupon can give you a traffic blast but in that case also you must have plenty of followers and people liking your content. Otherwise, its not possible.

I think he is using a paid marketing method for his blog like social media marketing and pay per click marketing because In SEO it is not possible to get this much traffic without any backlinks.

As I had said earlier stumbleupon can be the answer. But then also the question comes that a sudden traffic spike may be possible but a regular traffic is not possible.
