1. Find out blogs and leave useful comments in them with the url of your site in the 'site section'.
2. Use guest blogging as a promotion method of your blog. They can generate highly targeted tremendous traffic.
3. Inform the search engines and aggregator sites like Technorati. Use ping services.
4. Do effective forum marketing. Don't just post in them add value and you will get a good flow of traffic.
5. Participate in controversial topics and discussions in the forum sites and/or social sites.
6. Use mass platform sites such as reddit to generate traffic by getting as many as upvotes.
7. Submit articles to article submission sites such as EzineArticles.
8. Use social bookmarking sites to get as much as exposure.
9. Whenever update your blog also co-ordinate them with your social media account and group pages.
10. Use tricks in blog post headlines to drive as much as traffic. Such as 'Top Ten', 'Best of 2016'.
11. Ask for review in the your niche forum sites or social groups.
12. Post articles about some general problems or post 'how to's' about most asked walk through's in your niche.

These activities are good, but old as well. There should be more new activities for getting traffic to the blog. Infographics sharing is also the one of the major activity could be done for getting traffic. Because today user attracts to images more than reading a content.
